Grim Encounters

Grim Encounters is a dice strategy game where you gamble with the souls you've collected as the Grim Reaper. Play against 6 different cryptids in this gambler's para-dice!

Controls: Space bar or mouse click to move through dialogue, point-and-click for buttons.

The game begins when you buy in with one soul and four dice are rolled for you. Your score consists of the sum of the dice. Some bonuses are applied to your score: the sum of any repeating dice within is multiplied by the number of repeats (for example, a double 2 would be 8 instead of 4.) Additionally, for every pair of 1s in a winning hand, your profits are increased by 100%, and for every pair of 2s in a winning hand, your profits are increased by 50%.

Out of your four dice, you must discard one die that you consider your worst. Another roll will be rolled to fill your fourth slot later. One round of betting will occur based on the probability of having the highest score.

Betting offers four main actions.

• INTERACT to learn more about the quality of other players’ rolls. Some players may bluff.
• STAY to invest the same amount of souls as the current highest bet. Go ALL IN to sell your soul and continue the game if you run out of souls. If you have gone ALL IN and you do not win, you will be removed from the casino.
• RAISE to increase the bet by a custom amount. The max you can bet is the amount of souls you have minus one.
• FOLD to forfeit all invested souls and leave the round.

After betting is complete, the dealer rolls a common die for the entire table, which is added to everyone’s totals as the fourth die. Another round of betting occurs based on the new total. Once everyone decides to STAY or FOLD, the players still in the game reveal their scores and the player with the highest score wins. If there is a tie, the pot is split evenly.
